Orchard Warden is a big help in that department, as it gains you life equal to any Treefolks toughness that enters play on your side of the battlefield, whether it be a token copy, a 2/10 vanilla creature or a big, beefy Treefolk lord creature such as 17
There is also a lot of utility that can be used to negate your enemies' damage potential by changing their cards to face-down, either by using the Quaking Mirror Force trap or Ultimate Conductor Tyranno card
The clues are usually present only as limited quantities to handle the main events/purposes of the scenario, and if you use this card that brings clues separately from the scenario, you can create a bizarre situation, such as a better reward than being destroyed or designed
Much like Kamahl, Fist of Krosa this can be a card that proves more useful among the 99 rather than as a commander, but since it can be paired up with a background, it allows you some extra options when deciding which other color you want to play

The activated ability is rather expensive though, so it plays best in decks that know they have to turn aside a single prominent threat
