The wires which outline the cells for the enamel are hand bent from 24K gold and attached to the dial. Each cell is filled with vitreous (grand feu) enamel from Japan and fired multiple times in the kiln at about 1400 degrees Fahrenheit. Opaque black, orange, and white were used to create the stripes
