Villainaire is a brilliant song cycle driven by layers of Sam Mickens vibrato laden voice, dark lyricism and sterling guitar work. Bassist (acoustic and electric) Jherek Bischoff and drummer Nick Tamburro anchor the tunes with endlessly inventive polyrhythmic suppleness.
