Hasui Kawase constructs the composition around a near perfect mirror image the mountain's snow capped cone rising above the treeline while its reflection stretches downward into still, darkening water. The mood is one of dusk edged calm, the sky shifting through subtle gradients of rose and grey. Foreground elements reeds, a low shore anchor
