Oil on board maritime scene, signed and dated, 1901. vernacular Early 19th-century fruitwood tableA good decorative maritime scene oil on board signed T. C. C and dated 1904. It features a ship (a paddle steamer?) and a lighthouse. I love the faded grandeur of this. The colour and waves on the sea, and then, close up, the very tiny, but distinctive, figures on the ship especially the guy with binoculars and the detail in the lighthouse. Very clever. Distressed, crackly surface with small losses round the edge. It still really draws you in though.
