The tower consists of four tiers, labelled: Mace Cloves Cinnamon Nutmegs Each wooden tier unscrews to reveal the relevant compartment beneath. The tower's cap has a small split to the wood and the 'Nutmegs' compartment has a very small hole (please see photographs).
