No shadow Shadowless (still 1999, still valuable) Soft grey shadow Unlimited Step 3 (optional): Check the copyright text The copyright line at the bottom of the card varies by print run: 1st Edition / Shadowless: "1995, 96, 98, 99 Nintendo, Creatures, GAMEFREAK 1999 Wizards" (note the double 1999 ) Unlimited: Same copyright line, drop shadow added 1999-2000 (eighth print): "1999-2000" appears at the bottom right For Trainer and Energy cards (which never had drop shadows in any print run), the copyright text is the only reliable way to differentiate between print runs
They're the main players, with some serving as multiplanar Avengers (the Gatewatch), while others want to grow their power and influence across the multiverse
And if youre only after a few specific cards, most are quite affordable, making this years set easier on the wallet than some previous editions
Ive seen a somewhat equal distribution between 1st and unlimited edition cards in general for most of these sets (although not sure if it applies to all of them)
