I think theres something to be said for a deck where the commander really takes a back seat for most of the game, even beyond the cool lore parallel to Saurons role in the books

That makes it incredibly unreliable as a token engine (what if you dont have a target?) and graveyard hate (what if you dont have the mana to handle Valgavoth, Terror Eater from the reanimator player?)
