A new way to bring unusual, themed versions of (mostly) existing cards to players, Magic: The Gatherings publisher Wizards of the Coast launched the Secret Lair program in 2019
You do this by opening up some booster packs (usually all from the same set) and building a deck out of only those cards, and thats what all of your opponents do too
The resulting cards will be a bit bigger than an average Magic card and wont always fit in a sleeve properly, which can damage the sleeve or any cards beneath them
For instance, Furnace Reins lets you steal a creature and draw a card if you hit a battle with it, Rampaging Raptor lets you hit both an opponent and a battle theyre defending, and War-Trained Slasher doubles its power if its attacking a battle
So close to breaking the curse, yet letting Belle go to save her father, it's a lose-lose situation for him
Against hyper-aggressive decks, that one turn sooner can be the difference between victory and defeat
