Verner Panton designed the System 1 2 3 chair collection in 1973 as part of a project to create a series of versatile seats without compromising on comfort. The collection is characterised by its S shaped structure, with the seat flowing naturally into the base. Despite its simple shape, the chair has a sculptural presence. When commenting on the series, a critic at the time said, "It will be a
