The figures have been embroidered, padded with layers of card or paper and then appliqud onto the red silk figured velvet. The angels faces have been painted as was common at this time. During its history the central, red velvet part has been applied to the pale cream silk velvet backing at a later date, C17th century with tent stitch embroidered corners, billion work
