It has been in my collection for many years and was an ex-collection acquisition I obtained from a private collection formed in the 1960’s/70’s  (original collection number #401)

Old Japanese Chagama Kama and Furo for use in the Tea Ceremony antique southwest jewelry Age:Mid 20th CenturyThe Furo and Chagama were both artisan crafted from cast iron whilst the lid with a chrysanthemum like flower was created from polished copper and is smooth from use and with a genuine patina. Kantsuki rings allowed the metal vessel to be handled and moved during preparation and for the ceremony itself. A little rust, traces of wear and a deep rich overall patina show this piece was actually used. approximately 12" high (not including the lid) 12"
