Red Foxwhelp is a bittersweet cider apple that is capable of producing high alcohol ciders (around 11%) . An old variety, it was a very popular commercial apple in the 18th century. It juices very well, producing a lovely, red juice. DNA testing in 2016 showed that Red Foxwhelp is identical to the variety 'Herefordshire Redstreak.'
