Painted in the full Imari palette deep cobalt, iron red, and vivid green this twelve inch scalloped charger carries a composition rich with Japanese auspicious symbolism: lucky bats in flight, peaches of immortality, and two open fans at the center radiating outward in crisp blue and white. Meiji period Arita at its most exportable and most beautiful. The verso is clean white with three sketched roundels;
