Found growing in an old orchard with other varieties near Frongoch Farm near Aberystwyth. Brought to the attention of Danny Thorogood at Aberystwyth University by Paul Evans who lived on the farm and remembered the tree from his childhood. Danny propagated the tree and planted it out at the university's heritage
