The plan with Kuja is to build a board of wizards and enchantments that deal damage for playing instants and sorceries or that tap for damage
They tend to struggle in other formats due to their sorcery-speed nature (Leyline Binding has flash, thus overcoming this problem), and being of course weak against enchantment destruction
All in all, Im still not a huge fan of Universes Beyond but Id much rather have these types of crossovers than things like The Walking Dead , Stranger Things , or Fortnite , which dont fit in with Magics design sensibilities at all
