Theres a political approach to this card and it can tutor up an entire combo or multiple finishers all at once, so Im not ruling it out completely
Summer Magic ended up failing to fix many of these issues or simply having additional issues that resulted in the set never being released , which is why this copy of Volcanic Island is so covetable, as some boxes of cards did end up in public hands
Seems they only got that half-right though, because in the game of Magic: The Gathering you can most certainly create energy
You should have a pretty good beat on whether or not its time for you to buy after considering all this
One option is to use the cards ability for card draw and discarding in conjunction with other characters that benefit from card draw and discarding such as Gustav The Giant, Terror of the Kingdom, Jafar, Striking Illusionist and Maleficent, Mistress of All Evil
Individually these effects are marginal: but combined they form a card that was so good, many non-red blue base decks started playing red just to get it (plus Flametongue Kavu, to be perfectly fair)
