Its like the 5 card pack system is intentionally designed to be unfriendly towards newer players, which seems bizarre to me

Personally I think it makes for more interesting strategy, but if the aim is to carve out a competing slice of the online CCG space, the complexity this adds may still prove to be an obstacle
