Like the video games, a lot of the fun of the Pokmon TCG is the chance to assemble your own party of Pokmon, combining different strengths, weaknesses, evolutions, energy types and trainer cards to gain the advantage over your opponent and ultimately claim victory
But if the player uses a move like Knock Back (which both does damage and switches their opponent's Active Pokmon to the Bench) and the opponent's Pokmon's HP is reduced to zero, the switch is made first and the damage is applied when it's on the Bench
