You can, and probably will run your mundane mana rocks, but artifact decks have access to a host of powerful cost reducers that work exceptionally well with broken combo strategies

A concession causes you to leave the game, which then causes you to lose the game (Once you concede, you no longer control a Platinum Angel, so its ability can't prevent you from losing the game)

This will have the benefit of making the deck less reliant on creatures to win and leaning more into a card type the (generally speaking) has the least removal for it floating around in the format
