This allows for not only ramping, but exceptional mana-fixing too, which is essential when youre playing with a lot of colours
It does put you down a card, but it is still an incredibly powerful way to protect whatever you are doing on your own turn, and the ability to hit opponents' commanders and large creatures even while tapped out is notable
Its hard to beat the variety that TCGPlayer offers

Three damage are hardly relevant in Commander, even less so if you have to pay for it
All you really have to do is avoid anything with global land destruction, no repeatable extra turns, dont intentionally get any 2-card infinite combos, and you cant have any game changer cards
