Before this card was unified under this name, there were professor cards with different names that also shared the same effect, and, due to ruling issues, the Professor's Research cards were created to stop future issues if The Pokemon Company wanted to print professor cards
They currently sit in the tenth position among Bant generals, and while I dont expect them to move too far up the list, I could see them overtaking Roon of the Hidden Realm if the right deck list caught on

Here the story is this: The Goblins cant use the sled unless the opponent is near a mountain (So they can slide down the mountain on the sled), they have Trample (Since anything they hit will only slow them down), and if they deal damage, they dont untap next turn (Because they have to spend a turn climbing back up the mountain)
