Goldspan Dragon isnt necessarily a combo with the magecraft creatures (though it can be, to some extent), but the key here is that they both want the same type of card in your deck

For better or for worse, effects that scale with the number of opponents in the game seems to be the new normal for legendary creatures

Its more of a card for control and combo decks, but its a card that I would at least consider as a sideboard option for aggressive strategies
