Those facts make Torpor Orb or Null Rod choices not based on what your deck does, but what you can reasonably expect the other decks to do and wanting to prevent it (and sometimes, even if youre doing it yourself)
4 Brine Elemental Quite The Pickle Brine Elemental's one of the most devastating morphs you can have flipped face-up against you, as evidenced by the fact that its morph cost is more expensive than the actual casting cost
Just like Path to Exile, it's actually card disadvantage, (you trade your card to exile/destroy one of theirs and they get a land - total cards - You lost 1, they lost 1, and gained one, for a net of 1 card their way)
Mana Crypt is a two mana boost on the spot, a fine addition to any combination deck, but its drawback is very real
As a partner, Krark, the Thumbless is a curious card because you may want to actually lose the coin flip for it occasionally
Both decks also use the Spacecraft card type, which is highly likely to return in Universes Beyond: Star Trek
