It's certainly not a bad card -- drawing a card every turn while smashing with a 6/6 keyword soup creature for just 5 mana is a good deal in just about any deck -- but it doesn't advance any specific strategy to really take advantage of it
Yeah, Gather the Townsfolk is pretty lousy unless you're running multiple Champions, and even then it's questionable
