While control is definitely a thing in Modern, the format is incredibly proactive and control decks have got their work cut out to keep up with all of the different strategies available
If, during your declare attackers step, one of the permanents you gained control of this way that's a creature is tapped or is affected by a spell or ability that says it can't attack, then it doesn't attack
Protecting all your permanents and not just your creatures helps set Heroic Intervention above other protection spells
This can easily close out a game later on, or at least give you a pretty comfortable lead
