My suggestion would be to reword the rule to say: You lose the game if you end your turn without a Pokmon in play. This way, after your lone Basic is Knocked Out during your opponents turn, you would have a turn to play cards and hopefully find another Pokmon to put into play

Usually recursion is more varied by nature, especially since we don't run the aptly-named Recurring Nightmare, but it might be something to watch out for in cubes that want to try heavier-than-normal recursion themes
