It is better upto the point where you would have three swamps in play and worse past four
Every time you cast your first spell in a turn, you deal damage equal to that spell's mana value to a random opponent, hitting either them or a planeswalker they control
Not only are they less likely to have the other creatures needed to crew their new vehicle, but the fact they become a vehicle and lose all other card types also knocks every other equipment and aura that's already on them
Aside from that, it distributes mana to each player, and, as an unexpected receiver of said mana, it can be interesting to find ways to filter that mana into different mana sinks to avoid the inevitable mana burn
Blink the summons right before they go away, and you have a nice engine going on, besides all the crazy stuff that you can do with Agent of Treachery or Atraxa, Praetors' Voice
This card works well with pretty much all instant and sorcery spells and slots easily into a variety of strategies
