Obviously, if you can get some poison on your opponent, it gets a lot better as one mana a turn to tap something often just feels like removal
As such you don't really care that it is of little help in the slower matchups
Lets not kid ourselves here, Pirates are the coolest thing to ever happen to Magic the Gathering and the fact that theyre the top tribe in Ixalan is a status befitting the glory of every infamous pirate
Do that multiple times per turn, and victory will arrive very quickly indeed, especially as Ralph himself can quest for an impressive three points of lore too
Or maybe you cast Curtains' Call and cascade into a Worm Harvest with no lands in your graveyard, then your Goblin Spymaster cascades into a Fellwar Stone when you already have plenty of mana and you watch with disgust at your horrible luck
