Deathrite Shaman is a little slower and more vulnerable than Courser, he also loses his other utility and costs you some mana should you be using him for life

I think Slaughter would work best in decks with very few creatures, ideally small utility ones (Weathered Wayfarer), so you'd lose little while your opponents might potentially lose a lot

Its a powerful thing to do with a lot of mana, but at the end of the day, its not good enough to warrant space in the deck

Should you be set up to take advantage of it, however, having a one-drop that gives all of your critters haste is an incredibly powerful way to open a game
