Senior game designer Daniel Holt explained that the decision to have each deck themed around one game allowed the team to "dive deep into the lore of each, capturing even more beloved moments from across the games storyline." When asked exactly how Wizards of the Coast came to choose the games that would be included in the crossover (I'm slightly disappointed Final Fantasy 9 didn't make the cut), Holt explained that Final Fantasy 7 and 14 were the clear picks due to their popularity, but that Final Fantasy 6 and 10 were chosen partially due to how many fans of those games were among the Wizards of the Coast team

All of these creatures have smaller, inefficient stats for their mana, but no one's casting them to rumble

What did I miss and why?

Tokens that aren't a copy of something else don't have a mana cost

"Pokemania" was on the way out, and that meant a lot of the Pokemon TCG expansions at the time suffered from lower sales and smaller print runs

Once players feel confident enough, they will be able to challenge the eight gym leaders spread across the board in order to gain their badges
