Well, only costing a single mana means you can get it down and start swinging before opponents can put up blockers
That size and number of tokens not having any trample just doesn't matter at all
But situationally, it can be fantastic, and will likely always find a way to be at least useful
This becomes increasingly better as the number of opponents increases, and a little Sensei's Divining Top trickery can go a long way to secure a big follow-up like Combustible Gearhulk
